This month's drill/training was on CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation). Members refreshed on CPR with manikins and also refreshed on the Lucas device. This is a device that does chest compressions instead of doing them manually. A couple of advantages to the device are that the member is free to do other important things that need to be done during a call like this and the machine can remain constant and push down on the chest the correct depth and speed the entire time. Members also refreshed on using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) which is used to shock the heart back into a normal rhythm. If you think you would like to be part of our team and help the community, you can contact us to stop by and see what we do or fill in an application and send it to us. There is no better feeling than knowing that you played a part in saving the life!
